All Vegans Eat is Lettuce?

The vegan market is booming. There is big money to be made from the vegan pound. Veganism is growing at a record-breaking speed for a variety of reasons: Covid, the environment, animal cruelty, health and some vegans just dislike the texture and the taste. There are more and more vegan options every day. Big brands are jumping on the vegan band wagon to give us even more of a choice, such as: Nestle with their new vegan KitKat (which I am dying to try), Galaxy, Quorn, Linda McCartney, Mars, Flora, Chicago Town, Goodfellas, Pizza Hut, Subway, Dominos, Pizza Express, Ben and Jerries, Pappa Johns, Burger King, KFC, Costar, Nike, Rowntrees, Ilchester cheeses (AppleWood & Mexicana), to name but a few. Sometimes this works, sometimes it is a disappointment and sometimes it’s a bit of both, but more importantly, these are options, something vegans didn't use to have much of. Then there are the independent vegan companies such as: Bosh, Oggs, Rhythm 108, Veggo, Daisy and Dam, Nomo, Hippeas, Naturali, Beyond, This Isn't, Vivera, Moo, Plamil, Koko, Deliciously Ella, Perkier, Naked, Candy Kittens, Sheese, Violife, Love Raw, Alpro, Oatly and then you have all the accidentally vegan options...There is so much to choose from. Sure, there are still restaurants, cafes and supermarkets living in the dark ages, where you are lucky to get some lettuce, but this is becoming less and less common. For flavour and variety there has never been a better time to be vegan.

Many vegans prefer to support the independent vegan companies, the local vegan companies as these are the companies who have supported vegansim from the start, who first gave us options, without them there wouldn't be any mainstream companies catering for vegans. I like to support these independent and local companies where I can, so, I will share a little piece of Vegan Heaven with you, something even non-Vegans adore. You can thank me later! Some of you may already be in on this secret, if not, you soon will be. In my local town, at a vegan market, I discovered this treasure, the most amazing vegan cake maker, Floral Frosting Bakes, as well as cake pots, Charis bakes cookies, brownies, bars, pies and all sorts of things. Only the finest ingredients are used such as Love Raw and Vego. Charis is constantly evolving and expanding, and her food is just out of this world, divine, lush, scrumptious. She also makes celebration cakes and does monthly subscription boxes. Her baked goods are often a work of art! Even her packaging is a work of art. Charis also offers gluten free as an option, where possible. No one need miss out here!

Her most popular cake is the Biscoff Cake Pot, it is simply heaven in a pot! The Biscoff cookie is rather good too. The Snickers Brownie is amazing, even more so when it is heated up. The Veggo Cake pots are fairly yummy too and the triple chocolate cookie. This year’s Easter goodies were out of this world! These bakes treats are definitely not lettuce! I would say they would easily outdo any non-vegan option too. Of course, knowing nothing has been harmed for your pleasure, makes it even more enjoyable. Guilt free enjoyment, priceless!

As well as being an extremely talented baker, Charis is kind, approachable, friendly and helpful which makes the experience even lovelier.

Here are my photos showing a selection of the treats Charis has made for me, although my photos don't do her skills justice.
